استفاده از الگوهاي جملات و اصطلاحات رايج در زبان انگليسي باعث مي شود تا زبان آموزان با اعتماد به نفس بهتري بتوانند منظور خود را در زبان انگليسي بيان كنند. استفاده از اين عبارات همچنين مي تواند شما را قادر سازد تا بتواند راحت تر و طبيعي تر به زبان ديگر صحبت كنيد. در اين وبلاگ آموزش زبان انگليسي سعي شده تا اين جملات بصورت هفتگي براي زبان آموزان ارائه شود.
توصيه مي كنيم تا هر روز حتي براي مدت زماني كوتاه اين اصطلاحات را دوره كنيد. تكرار اين عبارات موجب مي شود تا در هنگام صحبت كردن آنها را زودتر به خطر بياوريد. توجه داشته باشيد كه اين اصطلاحات بيشتر در صحبت كردن رايج است و در نوشتار Writing بهتر است تا از ساختار هاي رسمي تر استفاده كنيد. البته مي توان اين عبارات را در نوشتارهاي دوستانه و يا غير رسمي نيز استفاده نمود.

1.Cat got your tongue
موش زبانت را خورده، خجالتي

2.Get in someone's hair
كسي را اذيت كردن
I know that the children get in your hair, but you should try not to let it upset you so much.
3.Jump down someone's throat
يقه كسي را گرفتن، با عصبانيت با كسي برخورد كردن
You don't have to jump down my throat! I told you that I'd make it home around 11:50. I don't intend to be late!
4.Shoot off one's mouth
معني: لاف زدن، غلو كردن
Jim doesn't play tennis very much, but he's always shooting off his mouth about how good he is. Yet he's fooling nobody. Jim is somewhat of a braggart and everyone knows that he gives opinions without knowing all the facts and talks as if he knew everything about the game.
5.Pull someone's leg
كسي را دست انداختن
- Hey, Al, I was invited to be a judge for the contest.
- Oh, really? You're pulling my leg!
6.Get off someone's back
دست از سر كسي برداشتن
- You've been studying for a long time. Why don't you take a break?
- Get off my back! I can't go anywhere!
7.People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
وقتي كسي خودش هم مقصر است نبايد ديگران را سرزنش كند.
Janet has often criticized her friend, Lois for driving too fast, yet she herself has had her license suspended for exceeding the speed limit. Lois once tried to tell her that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but it didn't do much good.

When the security guard saw a light in the store, it seemed to him that there was something fishy going on.

از اين اصطلاح بيشتر براي بيان احساساتي مانند غافلگيري يا عصبانيت استفاده ميشود
"Holy Cow!" she said as she saw his car after the horrible accident.
